Hrvatski Telekom (Reuters: HT.ZA; Bloomberg: HTRA CZ), Croatia's leading telecommunications provider, announces that HAKOM approved HT’s takeover of HP Produkcija d.o.o., provider of Evo TV service, thereby allowing the execution of previously initiated transaction concluded between HT and HP-Hrvatska pošta d.d. By this decision, as proposed by HT, certain measures have also been defined with the aim to eliminate potential negative effects the transaction might have on the market competition.
In November 2018 HT announced it has signed a Purchase Agreement with the company HP-Hrvatska pošta d.d. on acquisition of 100 percent stake in the company HP Produkcija d.o.o., provider of Evo TV service and that the finalization of the transaction is subject to regulatory approvals.
Davor Tomašković, President of the Management Board of Hrvatski Telekom, stated: “I am exceptionally pleased with this decision. Since the signing of the Purchase Agreement we held the opinion that this transaction shall not negatively influence the market position and I am glad that within the conducted proceeding we succeeded in proving it by proposing measures."
Evo TV is a simple service at the Croatian Pay TV market, enabled by using a digital DVB-T signal which can be received through the existing antenna. Evo TV operates as of 2012, and its signal currently covers 94% of Croatian households.
As at 30 June 2018, Evo TV served 71,195 customers and had 30 employees on the same date. Revenues generated for the year 2017 amounted to HRK 57 million, representing a market share of 6%.
Hrvatski Telekom hereby additionally extended the range of its serviced in the growing Croatian Pay TV market.
