Hrvatski Telekom has included 12 additional nursing homes in the Generations Together national digital education program. This is its fourth phase. The Program is part of a broader socially responsible concept, In Good Hands, and now a total of 54 nursing homes are part of the Generations Together program. All homes included in the project received tablets and free internet.
The homes that received the donation and participate in the latest phase of the Program implemented by Hrvatski Telekom in cooperation with the Volunteer Center Zagreb are Nursing home Korčula, Nursing home Konavle, Nursing home Novigrad, Nursing home Velika, Nursing home Volosko Opatija, Nursing home Marko A. Stuparić Veli Lošinj, Nursing home Petrinja, Nursing home Makarska, Nursing home Knin, Nursing home Tisno, Nursing home Oklaj, and Nursing home Vinkovci.
Since the Program began in 2020, home residents have learned how to use various digital tools, such as making WhatsApp video calls. Educational materials are constantly being upgraded, and the HT Group Volunteer Club members also participated in the Program.
"The most beautiful thing about technology is that it connects all generations, regardless of where they are, while opening the opportunity for countless new, better opportunities. So it is with the Generations Together program we launched being aware of how difficult it is for our senior citizens in homes to be separated from their families and friends. As a large number of our elderly citizens do not have sufficient digital skills, we launched this Program to develop the digital literacy of nursing homes residents throughout Croatia. Today, 54 homes across Croatia, from Dubrovnik, Vela Luka, Split, Vis, Šibenik, Zagreb, Petrinja, Koprivnica, Čakovec, Slavonski Brod, Vinkovci, Vukovar...., have tablets and internet access. Many of them have for the first time surfed the internet, and made their first WhatsApp video call. Their happiness and satisfaction with mastering new knowledge is something we are very proud of ", said Ivan Bartulović, Hrvatski Telekom's Chief Human Resources Officer.
In partnership with the Volunteer Center Zagreb, educational video materials for digital education of the elderly are constantly being upgraded. They will be published on Hrvatski Telekom's official channels.
