- The idea of HT Challenge is to detect forest fires early by using sensors of temperature relative air humidity and air carbon monoxide and dioxide concentrations
- The Challenge is set up on the digital platform of the award-winning French start-up Agorize, which connects businesses all over the world with a community of 5 million innovators, and Hrvatski Telekom is the first in Croatia to introduce it
- With this competition, Hrvatski Telekom helps with the preservation of forest areas
Hrvatski Telekom, the leader in digital transformation, invites everyone interested to join the innovative challenge of developing Internet of Things solutions, whose purpose is to preserve Croatian forests!
International virtual teams that will work on the NB-IoT solution for early detection and fire prevention can apply to Let's CHALLENGE - NB - IoT saves Croatian Trees.
The idea of HT Challenge is to detect forest fires using sensors of temperature, relative air humidity and air carbon monoxide and dioxide concentrations that would connect via NB-IoT technology to the application or platform and thus alarm the system in time.
Individuals and teams of up to three members from different parts of the world can participate, and finalists will have mentors and secured resources to pilot the elaborated ideas. All the finalists will get valuable prizes. The competition is open until December 31, the winner will be announced on January 14, and on January 18, representatives of Hrvatski Telekom and Deutsche Telekom Group will be at the final pitch.
The application must include three parts - a technical solution, a business plan and a presentation. The technical solution should enable an early detection of forest fires using sensors of temperature, relative air humidity and air carbon monoxide and dioxide concentrations that would connect via NB-IoT technology to the application or platform. It is also possible to combine it with other sensors, such as cameras. The application should display collected parameters and evaluate data in real-time as well as their correlation, and a step-by-step alarm needs to be developed and recommended actions need to be defined.
In addition to technical details, a market research-based business plan needs to be developed. The last part is a presentation that should include a design solution document and a 10-minute pitch presentation that can be in video format as well.
For the first time in Croatia, thanks to Hrvatski Telekom, the platform of the award-winning French start-up Agorize, which connects many businesses around the world with the community of 5 million innovators gathered on its platform the challenge, will be used during the challenge. Agorize helps them find students, developers, startups and employees. The platform therefore uses the algorithm to find partners, enabling quick and easy multidisciplinary international teams to gather.
With this initiative, Hrvatski Telekom wants to help prevent fires that are a major problem every summer. Forests cover 30% of the Earth's surface but this percentage decreases, and fires are one of the main reasons. At present, fires are visually detected through various cameras, and HT believes that the currently available technology provides a “smarter” approach to the alarm system and invites everyone interested to apply and help solve this problem.
