The 11th exhibition of HT awards for the Croatian contemporary art will be open on Friday, 20 April, at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, during which young contemporary artists will present their works. This is the largest and simultaneously also the most important award for creativity in contemporary visual art in Croatia. The exhibition is the result of the co-operation between the Museum of Contemporary Art and Hrvatski Telekom. It provides both a representative and a relevant overview of the contemporary local visual art scene. The competition has yet again arisen huge interest amongst artists this year. A total of 236 works have been submitted, whilst the International Panel of Experts selected 33 works, which, in addition to three artists who have also been invited, totals 36 artworks that will be exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb. The best artists will be granted purchase prizes: first prize totalling HRK 75,000, second reaching HRK 45,000, and third standing at HRK 40,000. The purchased works of art will be included in the holdings of the Museum of Contemporary Art, i.e. the Collection HT@MSU.
Within this year’s exhibition, Hrvatski Telekom will be presenting a new interactive mobile app Cultural Places, which will provide the visitors with the opportunity to experience cultural places, events, and activities in an entirely innovative way. The new app will be used as a guide through the exhibition held at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Upon downloading the app to their smartphone, at the entrance to the Museum the visitors will receive a password and will hence be able to walk through the exhibition with a comprehensive guide describing every work of art.
"Hrvatski Telekom is a cultural enthusiast that identified the requirement for a cultural platform intended to provide a comprehensive user experience. Consequently, an app was developed that, in addition to museums and galleries in Croatia, enables the identification of all the museums, galleries, and cultural events throughout the world", pointed out Nina Išek Međugorac, Director of Corporate Communications in Hrvatski Telekom.
The exhibition will be open from 20 April to 13 May 2018, and admission is free.
