Tportal has invited entries for the 11th edition of the competition for the best Croatian novel, and the winner of the tportal literary award will receive HRK 50,000
tportal.hr has invited entries for the 11th consecutive competition for the literary award roman@tportal.hr for the best Croatian novel published during the previous year, and the name of the winner of this award worth HRK 50,000 will be known in June.
This year, the Expert Panel will include five members and it will comprise of the literary critic Katarina Luketić, as well as writers and editors Miroslav Mićanović and Jadranka Pintarić, literary translator Ursula Burger, and theatre director Ivica Buljan, who will be presiding over the Expert Panel.
Croatian novels published during the last calendar year are eligible to apply for tportal literary award. The applications can be submitted by the publishers or by the authors from 5 March to 19 March 2018, through the online application form available on tportal.
The decision-making by the Expert Panel will be held in three rounds. Initially, the Expert Panel will select 11 semi-finalists, then 5 finalists, and the name of this year’s winner will be known in June.
The award has been granted since 2008, as the only domestic literary award for a novel written in the Croatian language, published by a publisher registered in Croatia. In addition to the promotion of the author, the objective is to promote publishing in Croatia.
The award has been granted 10 times thus far, and the winners were Olja Savičević Ivančević for her novel "Goodbye Cowboy" and Sibila Petlevski for "The Time of Lies", Dalibor Šimpraga for "Anastasia", Kristian Novak for his novels "Black Mother Earth" and "Gypsy, yet the Most Handsome One", Tahir Mujičić for "Be Hamlet, Mr Hamlet", Drago Glamuzina for "Three", Zoran Malkoč for "Roki Raketa", Ivica Đikić for "I Dreamed of the Elephants", and Slobodan Šnajder for "The Brass Times".
