This year Combis Conference gathered a record number of 500 participants, and before the closing ceremony, Combis' experts talked about vision of the IT future in Cloud, Collaboration, Internet of Things, Computer Vision and Security.
The 11th edition of Combis Conference, which took place in Šibenik from 27th to 29th September and which hosted a record number of 500 participants, has ended. Before the closing ceremony, on CoCo Vision lecture, Combis’ experts talked about the future of technology in areas of Cloud, Collaboration, Internet of Things, Computer Vision and Security.
Introduction into the topics of CoCo Vision was held by Dean Muhoberac, Business Consultant in Combis. He talked about an imaginary script and demonstrated how business and private life will look like in the future. Dean pointed out that, even though it is hard for us to imagine that kind of life, the technologies like augmented reality, virtual reality, autonomous vehicles and managing our diet and health with the support of artificial intelligence are already available today. However, the issue that we have yet to face is lack of advanced programming resources.
In the next presentation, participants could learn about Cloud and the automation and optimization of the processes for managing the internal virtual infrastructure. "Unnecessary complications that occur while sending virtual resources requests in terms of approval, finding free resources, and searching for owners of certain virtual resources have led to a continuous delay in the realization of the request. Therefore, we have created the most modern and flexible system for automated provisioning of virtual resources, which makes us exceptionally proud", said Igor Dužević, Technical Director of System Integration Division at Combis.
Business Development Manager Nenad Trajkovski also spoke on the topic of Cloud and through clarifying the importance of advanced collaboration, pointed out that all future digital information will be stored in cloud, and we will be able to access them from all devices, and data access won't depend on technologies, operating systems and user's location.
While talking about the Internet of Things, Dražen Nežić, Software Architect and expert on Big Data and IoT technologies, pointed out that it is expected that by 2020, 34 billion devices will be connected to Internet, and 24 billion of those will be IoT devices. Due to the awareness of the tremendous potential of its use, the Internet of Things has become a hype - investments are rapidly expanding due to its usage in a number of industries, from manufacturing industry and energetics to health and transportation, and it is expected that the biggest users will be large companies and cities. According to Nežić, IoT will be one of the most important trends that will affect our lives in the future, with the necessity of standardizing the IoT protocol, and he sees a smarter use of resources and raising the quality of life as the biggest benefits of IoT.
Seeing the world from a different perspective, that is with the help of Computer Vision, was talked about by Damir Kipčić, programming engineer in Application Development and Integration Division at Combis. Computer Vision is an area of science that seeks to provide to computers possibilities comparable to human vision. In other words, it helps computers to see and look at the world as we do, Kipčić explained and added that the greatest appliance of Computer Vision is in medicine – early diagnosis, robotics, biometric analyses for identification purposes and in the field of autonomous vehicles and optical character recognition technology, and the biggest challenge is still recognition accuracy. "The future of Computer Vision is in artificial intelligence, and artificial intelligence will never be intelligent without Computer Vision", Kipčić concluded.
Bojan Alikavazović, system engineer in IP Communications and Security Division at Combis, spoke on the topic of security and reminded the audience that Internet is a global matter, which makes the dangers that come with it global as well. "Computer security is certainly a topic that will soon become close to everyone. In the future, it will take on a completely different dimension and won't just be a topic for us experts. You will soon spend more time educating your kids on online security, you will buy cars with a distinguished software security certificate, and perhaps ask for companies’ services that will allow you to 'delete' your identity from the Internet as well", said Alikavazović, and stressed that we always have to be aware of the fact that there is someone who thinks different than you, someone who isn't familiar with ethics and morality, and that technology can easily be used against us as well.
According to participants, the best lecture was Can digital tracking bring money?, while the title for the best presenter of the 11th Combis Conference went to Marko Galetić from INA - Plavi tim.
This year's Conference gathered a record number of 500 participants and more than 50 lecturers who prepared almost 40 presentations. The next edition of the Conference will be held from 23rd to 25th September, 2018 in Poreč.
