HT’s Marijo Volarević and Ana Mihalić with the first-place winners (Photoframe)
The two-person student team, Antonela Sarađen (Faculty of Economics and Business) and Davor Šestan (Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science) has won the first prize of Hrvatski Telekom for the best business case solution at this year’s Case Study Competition, the 12th competition in a row. At the award presentation ceremony, the cheque amounting to HRK 10,000 was presented to the winning team by the business case mentor, Mr. Marijo Volarević, Director of the Business Development and Innovation Centre at Hrvatski Telekom.
Marijo Volarević and Ana Mihalić (also from HT’s Business Development and Innovation Centre), who have been working intensively on attracting students throughout the last couple of months, provided assistance in the solution of the business case and, eventually, participated in the selection, commented on the award-winning “Photoframe” solution: “It often happens that the most simple solutions turn out to be the best ones, which was proven by our winning team. They have won us over by their professional presentation, direct approach, and simplicity of their solution. We hope that we will be able to turn this concept into a specific application, thus additionally promoting our company and our business.”
The Internet of Things in Tourism
Hrvatski Telekom is a traditional participant in the biggest regional student competition, the Case Study Competition, organised, for the 12th time in a row, by the student association eStudent.
This year’s business case of HT, “Internet of Things in Tourism”, attracted a great deal of attention among students at the Faculty of Economics and Business and the Faculty of Electric Engineering and Computing, so that as many as 35 very creative and complete solutions were submitted.
The finalists’ presentations flew by in the blink of an eye, as the students managed to entertain all attendees with their lively appearance, their energy, and their likeable demeanour. Although the jury did not have an easy task, in the end, it came to a unanimous decision: the winners were Antonela and Davor, who had offered their “Photoframe” solution.
The other ideas offered – from glasses for navigation and information on the object viewed, over the display of content on a mobile phone supporting iBeacon technology, to the travel zip. tourist card, are certainly entries worth mentioning, and HT is considering the possibility of their implementation.
The hard-working students of the eSTUDENT association organised a get-together called “Mosaic of Change” which was aimed at enabling company representatives to get better acquainted with the winning teams.
