After the very successful last year's contest, Deutsche Telekom continues this year with the organization of the “Telekom Innovation Contest” that opens a possibility for the participating teams to integrate their innovative products and services in the DT service portfolio. The creative teams of students, entrepreneurs, young IT startups from all over the world can apply with their ideas in several categories at www.telekom-innovation-contest.com by 11 April. The finalists who will participate in the Big Final in Krakow will be announced after all the national contests have been closed.
This year’s contest is supported by hub:raum, a Deutsche Telekom startup incubators with locations in Berlin, Krakow and Tel Aviv. The additional support will be provided by the national companies within DT Group in Central and Eastern Europe. In Croatia, the support will be provided by Hrvatski Telekom and Iskon Internet within T-HT Group and the national contest will be held under their auspices.
Teams of two or more people can apply their ideas in several categories: “Cloud-Based Productivity”, Future Media & Communication”, “Internet of Things”, “Cyber Security”, “Big Data” and “Smart Energy”.
The winners of this year’s contest will be offered valuable prizes that will include €150,000 worth investment by Deutsche Telekom Incubator, assistance in product development provided by DT management and workspace in one of the four incubators. All finalists will also receive a four-day training course during which they will be able to learn from DT Group experts and further develop their ideas with their help.
Telekom Innovation Contest 2014 – Agenda
After the application deadline on 11 April 2014, DT experts will review all the applications. The teams with the best ideas will be summoned for the national final which is to be held on 9 May in Zagreb (the other national finals will also take place in May in Athens, Bratislava, Budapest, Podgorica, Prague, Tel Aviv and Berlin). The teams outside Europe will participate in a virtual contest. The winners of national finals will compete in the Big Final in Krakow, where the four-day training course will be held. The winner of the Big Final will continue to develop the idea with help of DT Group.
Details of the 2013 Contest
In 2013, 700 teams from 45 countries applied for the Contest with 444 ideas. There were 12 finalists from eight countries and the winner was team Excalibur from Slovakia with their idea for the mobile phone authorization system. The first runner-up was team Cubilog from Hungary and the second runner-up was German team Codeatelier.
