Hrvatski Telekom provides broadband internet in Krapina, Mursko Središće and Zaprešić
Hrvatski Telekom, the frontrunner in Croatia's digitalization, has completed projects for the construction of fiber-optic infrastructure in Krapina, Mursko Središće, and Zaprešić and the associated local municipalities. Deploying projects carried out under the structural rules of the Framework National Program for the Development of Broadband Access Infrastructure in areas with insufficient commercial interest for investments will improve the use of digital services such as e-Citizens, e-schools, e-health. High speeds and availability of the internet will contribute to further developing entrepreneurship and economic activity.
"Almost four years ago, Hrvatski Telekom signed 13 partnership agreements with local and regional government representatives to implement projects for constructing a broadband internet network. During this time, we encountered many challenges in implementation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, the disruption of supply chains, and bad weather. Today's presentation of the first three projects proves our commitment to connecting everyone in Croatia with the opportunities brought by digitalization With this project, we will significantly improve the quality of life of the local population and provide preconditions for further economic growth", said Boris Drilo, a Management Board member and Chief Technical and Chief Information Technology Officer at Hrvatski Telekom.
- The value of the broadband access infrastructure development project in the area of the City of Krapina and the municipalities of Đurmanec, Jesenje, Petrovsko, and Radoboj is EUR 7.89 million, of which HT invests EUR 4.97 million. The rest, EUR 2.92 million is co-financed by the EU. Its implementation will enable ultra-fast (+100 Mbit/s symmetrical) broadband internet access for 10,338 potential users.
- The value of the broadband access infrastructure development project in Mursko Središće and the municipalities of Gornji Mihaljevec, Nedelišće, Selnica, Strahoninec, Sveti Juraj na Bregu, Sveti Martin na Muri, Šenkovec, and Štrigova is EUR 7.91 million, of which HT invests EUR 4.71 million. - The value of the broadband access infrastructure development project in the area of the City of Zaprešić and the municipalities of Brdovec, Dubravica, Jakovlje, Luka, Marija Gorica, and Pušća is EUR 8.53 million, of which HT invests EUR 4.96 million. "Krapina is celebrating its 830th anniversary this year. Throughout all the centuries of its long and rich history, Krapina was an important economic center of this part of Croatian Zagorje, which has continued today. The deployment of the high-speed internet project ensured its availability to all communities in the area of the City of Krapina and neighboring municipalities (Đurmanec, Petrovsko, Jesenje and Radoboj). Although this project is not visible to the naked eye, its significance is exceptional. Almost all aspects of business and everyday life are unthinkable today without technology, the internet included. The high-speed internet project for the area of the former municipality of Krapina is worth about HRK 60 million, or about EUR 7.9 million The project is financed from EU funds and Hrvatski Telekom funds, so I thank HT for implementing this project here, as well as Ericsson Nikola Tesla, as the main contractor With a project like this, the wider Krapina area ranks alongside modern, smart cities," said the mayor of Krapina, Zoran Gregurović.
"There is good in every evil, so during the covid pandemic, we understood even better the importance of the availability of fast internet Although we can say that the city of Mursko Središće recognized this back in 2015, when we started preparing for the application of the PRŠI project - a broadband Internet development project that covers the area from the City of Mursko Središće to the municipalities of Selnica, Sveti Martin na Muia, Štrigova, Gornji Mihaljevec, Sveti Juraj na Bregu, Nedelišće, Strahoninec, and Šenkovec Given the complexity of the application and the fact that these were actually the first such projects in Croatia, we put a lot of effort into ensuring that the application was of high quality and evaluated well We had a lot of help from Hrvatski Telekom and HAKOM in this The difficulties are in the past, and today we can be happy that our citizens, i.e., the residents of upper Međimurje, about 12,000 of them, got an optical network and the possibility of connecting to broadband internet We are open to cooperation on some new projects", said Dražen Srpak, mayor of Mursko Središće.
The mayor of Zaprešić, Željko Turk, pointed out: "According to research, Zaprešić has been at the very top of the development index for several years and is among the best Croatian cities in terms of quality of life. By continuously investing in utility and transport infrastructure, high-quality health care, sports, culture, and education, and creating prerequisites for economic development, Zaprešić has achieved all the prerequisites for quality and comfortable living. Nevertheless, year after year, we strive to raise the standard of living in the town and neighboring municipalities. Therefore, we look forward to every new project that will add value to the Zaprešić area, including this one that will greatly contribute to further social and economic development and modernize it without burdening our budgets."
The Next Generation Access - NGA network that Hrvatski Telekom has built as part of this project is open, which means that all other operators and electronic communications service providers have open access to the networks and, just like HT, can offer their retail broadband services to end users in the area which the project covers.
