- As part of the pilot project to increase safety in mountainous, forested, and non-urban areas on top of Sv. Ilija on Pelješac and top of Snježnik above Rijeka, HT installed modern measuring devices transmitting real-time data
- Measuring devices have an autonomous power supply, and their purpose is to collect temperature and air humidity data, which are then displayed in real-time on a mobile app

Hrvatski Telekom sets up IoT measuring devices to collect meteorological data on top of Sv. Ilija and on Snježnik
Together with the HGSS station Orebić and the famous alpinist Stipe Božić, Hrvatski Telekom installed its NarrowBand-IoT sensors on the top of Sv. Ilija on Pelješac, and in cooperation with the HGSS station Rijeka, a sensor was also placed on top of Snježnik, above Rijeka.
This pilot project aims to measure temperature and humidity in non-urban and hard-to-reach areas to provide key and basic meteo data that would be useful to the community and all users, in regular everyday use and emergencies (e.g., search and rescue operations).
Considering the robustness of the equipment, significant autonomy (battery lasts for years), and flexibility (functions via HT mobile signal), simple and efficient use over a long period of time and in all conditions is expected.
The measuring devices have an autonomous power supply, and their purpose is to collect temperature and air humidity data, which are then displayed in real-time on a mobile app enabling future users to monitor and analyze data for various needs. For example, HGSS can access precise meteorological data at a particular location and plan the necessary interventions accordingly.
Due to its high adaptability, this IoT technology can be applied in almost all market segments, such as industry, smart cities, transport, logistics, or agriculture. The solutions can be adapted to the individual needs of users, who can thus read the status of monitored parameters and plan their management.
"Through the further development of this pilot project, the plan is to continue with the installation of IoT measuring devices in other selected locations located near protected areas of forests, within fire-risk areas to contribute to the development of methods that will facilitate the prevention of potentially dangerous situations by security services," said Nikola Brebrić, ICT business solutions development manager at HT.
