Combis and FER create the sixth generation of tech creatives
A long-standing partnership has created a strong link for the structured development of young people entering the world of tech jobs.
Students of the Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER) have been awarded new Combis scholarships. Part of this educational program is the experience of working on specific development projects in network technologies. Fellows, with the mentorship of FER professors, have also been provided with the mentorship of several Combis experts.
"We know that results do not happen overnight, so we decided on a model where we introduce students to the world of work gradually and with as little stress as possible, with mentoring and working on the most interesting technologies. Combis and FER exchange knowledge in this way, and teaching follows the latest trends in the industry", says prof. Željko Ilić from the Telecommunications Institute of FER and points out that the advantage is that this encourages IT experts to stay in Croatia.
Domagoj Pehar, Director of the Business Infrastructure Solutions and Integration Sector for IP Communication and Security at Combis, notes that 30 percent of his team's employees came from this scholarship. "We are proud of these young people who have the will to learn and who grow into top engineers in two or three years. Then they become mentors to the new generations and provide the best support and knowledge as they know in detail the needs of the new fellows" says Pehar, who leads the Combis scholarship project.
According to students, the formula that Combis and FER have is successful from every angle. Borna Matičić says that he decided on this program through a conversation with older colleagues who received scholarships and stayed after that in Combis. "I wanted to connect graduating from college and finding a new job in a way that makes entering business better and easier, and when I heard from past fellows that motivated people progress easily, I no longer had any dilemmas," young Borna says. He hopes that some educational trips will accompany the scholarship.
