Hajduk is the winner of the premier Hrvatski Telekom e-League, the premier esport competition in which representatives of the four largest Croatian football clubs participated. With 362 games played and 2111 goals, a grand finale was played yesterday in which players competed for the title of Croatian esports champion, a valuable prize, in the form of a PlayStation 5 console and the opportunity to show their skills and perhaps deserve the place of a player of one of the Croatian e-clubs in the future. The e-League matches had more than 250,000 views on Hrvatski Telekom's YouTube channel. The finals alone had more than 150,000 views on YouTube and Facebook channels.
During the Hrvatski Telekom e-League, players competed in strength, knowledge, and skills by playing FIFA 21 on PlayStation 4 on behalf of their favorite clubs - Dinamo, Hajduk, Osijek, and Rijeka. Eight of the best, two from each club, advanced to the finals. In the grand final, Hajduk, played in pair by Stjepan Brstilo - Brstylo and Luka Radonić beat Dinamo, whose colors were defended by Hrvoje Čleković - HRVoje-1995 and Tomislav Krizmanić. The third place went to Osijek with the pair Armin Hasanbegović - rijo3xotic and Miro Bakula, who beat the Hajduk pair Luciano Baučić - Cano 19_11 and Rino Škorlić. Teo Radman - I730ITeoI, who played on behalf of Dinamo, Marin Muražija - Mudri14 on behalf of Osijek and Petar Šušnjar - turnicboys and Andrija Vrcan - vrcan3001, two of the youngest quarterfinalists who both represented Rijeka, also reached the quarterfinals. Tense virtual duels were covered by sports commentator Ivica Blažičko and some of the most popular gamers Malajski tapir, Veki, and Idžo.
"When we launched the Hrvatski Telekom e-League, we could not imagine how much interest there is in esports in the context of Croatian sport. Today, with almost 900 competitors registered, after 52 days of competition and 362 matches played, with more than 250,000 match views on HT YouTube and only positive reactions, we received an answer to the question of interest in esports in Croatia, but we have only just cracked open the potential. I am incredibly proud that Hrvatski Telekom has made such a step forward, and I believe that over the years, it will be shown that this tournament was a turning point that put Croatia and Croatian clubs on the map of world esports. I congratulate Dinamo, Hajduk, Osijek, and Rijeka for sharing our vision, and I'm looking forward to future cooperation", said Richard Brešković, Director of the Residential Marketing Department of Hrvatski Telekom.
"It feels great to be the winner of this super organized league, especially considering the powerful competition. We agreed on a good game plan, which we adjusted to the development of events on the field. In the end, the nuances were decisive", said the winner and the best player of the Hrvatski Telekom e-League at FIFA21, Stjepan Brstilo - Brstylo.
The Hrvatski Telekom e-League project was created in cooperation with the company Good Game Global. The project partners, along with the clubs Dinamo, Hajduk, Rijeka, and Osijek, are Samsung and Sofa Score. This is the first step out of Hrvatski Telekom into the esport industry, which this year recorded more than a billion dollars in revenue worldwide and is currently followed by more than 495 million fans worldwide.
