One month following the launch of the first commercial 5G network in six cities, Hrvatski Telekom continues to build the network of the future, which is now available in Đakovo, Našice, Požega, Varaždin, Vinkovci, Virovitica, Vukovar, and Županja. The 5G network is currently available in 14 Croatian cities and towns and covers one million Croatian citizens.
5G technology allows three basic things: faster and better Internet access, faster network response, and significantly greater connectivity of a large number of devices, which is a prerequisite for the development of smart industries, modern cities, and the society of the future.
"We want to make the 5G network available in all parts of Croatia. That is why we have made a new 5G step forward in seven Slavonian cities and Varaždin. 5G is a new innovation platform that will enable full digitalization in the field of production, logistics, and agriculture and enable further development of digital services for public administration and health," Boris Drilo, Member of the Management Board and CTIO of Hrvatski Telekom said.
Hrvatski Telekom's 5G network currently operates on Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) technology, which allows the use of existing frequencies for 5G and rapid implementation of the 5G network. It reduces the need for new base stations and locations on specific 5G frequencies.
Hrvatski Telekom offers all its customers in specific tariffs until June 30, 2021, without additional costs, the possibility of using the 5G network. For this, they need to be in the area covered by a 5G network and have a 5G compatible device. More details are given here.
