Hrvatski Telekom implements free WiFi internet in Donja Stubica, Bistra, and Dugopolje
- The Town of Donja Stubica and municipalities of Bistra and Dugopolje received under the WiFi4EU initiative a EUR 15,000 voucher to provide free internet in public locations
- Hrvatski Telekom is actively working on Croatia's digitalization through investments in the development of optical infrastructure, providing access to quality internet in urban and rural areas, and the implementation of WiFi access points.
The Town of Donja Stubica and the municipalities of Bistra and Dugopolje are part of the cities and municipalities which, as part of the WiFi4EU initiative, with the aim of introducing free WiFi for citizens and visitors to public locations, were awarded a voucher in the amount of EUR 15,000. Thanks to years of successful cooperation with Hrvatski Telekom, these communities have chosen HT as a reliable technological partner and the best contractor to technologically provide public free WiFi internet for their residents.
In the Town of Donja Stubica, a modern WiFi network has been implemented, which covers key locations in the city, further improving the town's infrastructure and allowing even better connectivity.
"During the implementation of this project, we encountered challenges in connecting all access points due to the wooded and hilly landscape, to cover as large an area as possible on as many facilities that are in the interest of our citizens. This complex project would not have been possible without the expert assistance of Hrvatski Telekom, with which we continue our successful long-standing cooperation. We are glad to realize such complex projects of modernization and digitalization of our city, in accordance with our goal of providing better living conditions for our fellow citizens and for all who visit our beautiful town," said the mayor of Donja Stubica Nikola Gospočić.
The municipality of Bistra owns a modern optical infrastructure that allows high-speed data transfer. It participates in the development of Croatia in e-mobility and has an EV charging station with two parking spaces. By covering public areas with free WiFi internet life for its residents, the Municipality of Bistra is further modernized and raises the quality of life for its residents.
"In the Municipality of Bistra, Hrvatski Telekom has installed 12 access points at seven external and five internal locations from the WiFi4EU project. This provides our residents with free of charge and free internet access in locations where the majority of social life takes place, i.e., in all our community centers, fire station, sports center, library, and in front of the parish church, in the center of Donja Bistra, in front of Bistra Municipality, and in front of the sports center. We thank Hrvatski Telekom as a partner in the implementation of the project for a job well done," said the Municipality of Bistra.
The Municipality of Dugopolje is also one of the municipalities that recognized the importance of modernization and connectivity, so it received a voucher as part of the WiFi4EU program, and in cooperation with Hrvatski Telekom, access points were set up at key city locations. However, the Municipality of Dugopolje has made an additional step forward with the aim of providing connectivity for as many of its residents as possible, and they have invested their own additional funds to provide internet access for almost the entire area of the municipality.
"The Municipality of Dugopolje has successfully applied for and received a voucher in the European WiFi4EU project, so we decided to upgrade the basic requirements and invest additional funds in addition to European funds; we covered with the signal entire Dugopolje, the community of Koprivno, and we continue with Kotlenice. This provides our residents with speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s, which have not been possible in large parts of the municipality until now. It is clear to us that the internet is the infrastructure of the future without which there is no quality progress. We are glad to have the expert support of Hrvatski Telekom with which we have successfully completed this project," said Perica Bosančić, Mayor of Dugopolje Municipality.
Hrvatski Telekom is the largest private investor in digital infrastructure in Croatia, which has been continuously investing in the quality and development of mobile and fixed network infrastructure for years. Many awards and recognitions for the quality of Hrvatski Telekom's network and the inclusion of HT's mobile network among the ten fastest networks in the world speak in favor of this. The fact that municipalities and cities in these projects selected Hrvatski Telekom is proof that the company is recognized as a reliable technological partner that can provide quality internet access, which allows increasing economic activity and quality of life of citizens. As the leader in digitalization in Croatia, Hrvatski Telekom remains focused on further investments and providing access to quality internet to as many citizens as possible so that everyone in Croatia is connected to the leading network.
