Thank you to our employees for making sure we stay connected
- At Hrvatski Telekom, in this challenging period, we have two priorities - to protect our employees and to provide our society with uninterrupted connectivity
- We are still available to all our customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
In this challenging period for all of us, we have two equally important priorities at Hrvatski Telekom. One is to protect all our employees. They are our strength, and our duty is to protect their health and the health of their families. The heart of our company is they who are in direct contact with customers - agents in call centers, employees in sales points, technicians. Following the instructions, advice, and measures of the competent authorities, we have decided on time to enable almost everyone to carry out all their business tasks from home. However, some can only do their jobs in the field, in contact with customers face-to-face. In addition to doctors, shop assistants, police officers, firefighters, soldiers, there are our 700 technicians across Croatia. We are proud of the contribution they make to society in this period. Many of them are in our capital, which was additionally struck by a major natural disaster and the consequences will undoubtedly require them to visit homes of our customers more frequently to help them troubleshoot.
The second, but no less of a priority, is to allow the whole society to be connected in these tough moments. That is why we are still available to them via telephone customer support and digital communication channels - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We owe it to our residential customers to have constant access to the latest information and uninterrupted communication, as this is extremely important today. It is also our duty to provide business customers with the most stable connection so that they can move their businesses to their homes and continue with daily obligations. Most of them are very uncertain today, and we need to support them to adapt to new work models faster. It is imperative for us to treat both priorities in an equal, responsible way.
The earthquake in Zagreb frightened all citizens and damaged many homes, and also caused a fire in our premises, damaging some of the telecommunications equipment. Due to the rapid response of the fire department, there was no major damage. Nevertheless, it was necessary to switch off the power supply for security reasons. This, in turn, caused difficulties with internet access and also a longer time to eliminate them. Our employees' courage, expertise and perseverance, despite the stress and fear, were unreservedly focused on dealing with this situation.
"Access to the internet service today is crucial to continuing lessons for our children and necessary to work from home. Also, it is indispensable for communication with our loved ones that we cannot visit during this time but want to know that they are safe and feeling good. That’s why I am extremely proud and grateful to our colleagues who has managed to restore our services after Sunday’s earthquake, as well as to our technicians who continue to work in the field ensuring uninterrupted connectivity to our customers. This is what we stand for as a company - connecting everyone in Croatia, especially today when connectivity has become more important than ever." says Kostas Nebis, CEO of Hrvatski Telekom.
