Hrvatski Telekom, the leader in Croatia’s digital transformation and the holder of the best mobile network certificate in Croatia, has won two more awards that confirm the top quality of the mobile network, for the fastest mobile network in Croatia and the best coverage award*.
Awarded by Ookla, the worldwide leader in internet testing and analysis, with over 10 million consumer-initiated tests completed per day, and telecom users around the world did over 24 billion Speed tests to date across all Speedtest platforms. Because of this, Ookla has the largest global database of fixed and mobile network performances across the globe. Testing on Ookla’s Speedtest platform is free, and users are testing the network through which they access the internet in a real environment and on their own devices, which gives the best insight into their user experience.
Ookla compared user-initiated tests taken on the Speedtest iOS and Android mobile apps from all the major mobile carriers in Croatia during the Q1-Q2 2019 award period to determine who showed the fastest mobile network speeds and best mobile coverage. Speed Score™ incorporates a measure of each provider’s download and upload speed to rank network speed performance while Coverage Score™ incorporates a measure of each provider’s availability and footprint within the country. Hrvatski Telekom achieved significantly better results when it comes to mobile upload and download speeds as well as mobile coverage from other mobile operators involved in Croatia.
“We are proud of yet another confirmation of the quality of our mobile network, especially the fact that this one comes from consumer initiated testing. Ookla tests are established as a world standard of user experience measurement because they are realized by users, in real conditions, on devices that users use to access our network every day. This recognition is the result of our continued investment in the construction and modernization of the mobile network. We do this in order to connect everyone in Croatia with the opportunities provided today by the latest technologies, so that through information and various forms of communication they could enrich the everyday life, and entrepreneurs could make their businesses more competitive and secure”, said Boris Drilo, Member of the Management Board and Chief Technical and Information Officer of Hrvatski Telekom.
This year, HT completes the process of a complete modernization of the mobile network in which it invested over one billion kunas in two years. The radio network according to the SRAN concept is modernized - the technology that ensures the coexistence of 2G, 3G and 4G networks on the same equipment, triples the capacity of the 4G network and ensures the IoT support. The new equipment that is being set up ensures better 3G and 4G network coverage, consumes less energy, and the goal of all the activities carried out is to enable the introduction of a 5G network as soon as the necessary radio frequency spectrum is allocated. The introduction of the 5G network is followed by the transformation of the entire society and opens up a wide range of additional opportunities for using mobile technologies that will change people's lives for the better and improve business.
For even more carefree surfing this summer, Hrvatski Telekom will provide its customers with additional 1GB of data traffic during July. Postpaid users will automatically receive additional 1 GB within their tariff options, while pre-paid users get 1 GB of additional traffic with some of the options.
