- For three years in a row, Hrvatski Telekom has presented its services at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona
- Call-Lifting implies an upgrade of a video call; the service combines smartphones with an autonomous drone that makes records of the user and thus enables them to live stream their immediate experience
- In collaboration with other members of the DT Group, HT has presented also the pilot-project application of Smart City solution through a new mobile NarrowBand-IoT network technology designed for use with Internet of Things (IoT) solutions
Following the presentation of the Cloud VPN service in 2015 and Cloud CPU in 2016, Hrvatski Telekom has yet again presented for the first time a new service and a new network technology in collaboration with Deutsche Telekom experts at this year’s Mobile World Congress opened today in Barcelona.
Call-Lifting is a service that combines the existing technologies in an innovative way in order to provide the users with a new communication experience. The service has been developed through collaboration between HT and DT experts, striving to include it in a global product range provided by Deutsche Telekom.
Call-Lifting implies an upgrade of a classical video call, through an autonomous drone that connects with the user’s mobile device. During the flight, the drone focuses on the area where the caller is located and, using the built-in camera, enables the user to fully share their experiences and adventures with the recipient. Through the drone view function, the user is provided the opportunity for live stream in real time, that is, they can record videos of their activities from any environment they are located in and both create and communicate their experiences in an entirely new way, from different interesting perspectives of their own choice.
The main advantages of Call-Lifting service include the reduction of the sense of physical distance and both visual and emotional sharing of the moment in real time. Call-Lifting provides the opportunity to share the experience, the emotions, and entertainment through a single call, and it is all so real that the recipient of the call has a feeling of personal participation and involvement in the caller’s experiences. The service is ideal for sharing experiences during the moments of relaxation and recreation, as well as during various sports competitions, yet it also has a potential to be used in the economy, primarily in construction and agriculture.
The new service provided by Deutsche Telekom was presented in Barcelona through a video call from Croatia, and hence a large number of visitors to MWC had the opportunity to see the live streaming of the attractive scenes from Dubrovnik recorded by the drone. "Through this service, Hrvatski Telekom has yet again proved to be the technological leader focused on the creation of services of the future and recognised by the international community", noted Ana Pauzar, Head of the Product Enablers and New Business Section at HT. "This is an initial version of the service that will be further developed until its commercial use, and I am convinced it will achieve great success also in Croatia due to its tourism potential and other aspects of use against the backdrop of an increasingly active new era lifestyle", concluded Slavica Zoričić, Project Manager.
Moreover, during the Mobile World Congress, Hrvatski Telekom, in collaboration with other members of the Deutsche Telekom Group, presented also the pilot-project application of Smart City solution through a new mobile NarrowBand-IoT network technology designed for use with Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. Some of the main advantages of NB-IoT technology include ensuring a reliable and safe mobile communication, excellent propagation and high quality of the mobile signal in enclosed spaces, as well as low consumption of energy required for operation of IoT solutions.
HT partners, Eco Mobile from Zagreb and Mobilisis from Varaždin, have adapted their Smart City solutions for operation through NB-IoT technology. Within a comprehensive solution for record keeping on municipal waste collection, through NB-IoT technology, Eco Mobile has enabled the work of fill-level sensors for waste containers. Mobilisis has enabled the operation of a smart parking system through NB-IoT connected sensors, built-in parking areas, intended to detect the occupancy of parking spaces.
IoT platform that enables the integration of the solutions in question, record keeping of municipal waste collection, and a smart parking solution, is a product provided by Nokia, a company which has been implementing a NB-IoT pilot programme at the local level under the guidance of HT.
