At the world's largest consumer electronics show, the Las Vegas-based CES, Croatian start-up STEMI made its appearance, presenting its robot-spider. The trip to Las Vegas and the opportunity to present oneself to technology journalists, investors and distributors from all over the world has been the prize awarded for the win at the Idea Knockout 2016, supported by Hrvatski Telekom as General Sponsor.
The CES has been held for the 50th time, ranking among the top ten media events with the highest exposure worldwide, and this is why exhibiting at this event provides a valuable opportunity for the promotion of Croatian innovative products. STEMI is one of the approximately 600 start-ups from all over the world to have exhibited at the u Eureka Park, which has seen the applications by more than 6000 start-ups, however, there was only room for the most innovative ones. Amazon, Google, Samsung, Philips and many other large companies have shown their interest in the STEMI robot, and video reports on the Hexapod were created by many online and TV media, including CNN.
"In 2017, we wish to focus on the Western market of Europe and the USA, therefore our trip to the CES has been a splendid opportunity to establish contacts and relations which will help us to achieve this goal", said Marin Trošelj, one of STEMI's founders.
The Hexapod robot-spider must be assembled by the teenagers themselves who are guided by a video tutorial that creates passion for programming, electronics and technology. Only after they have assembled the spider, they can control it via smartphone application.
Being the General Sponsor of Idea Knockout, the largest and most exciting regional technology idea competition organised by BUG magazine, is part of the long-term strategy of Hrvatski Telekom which is establishing itself as Croatia's largest start-up accelerator. Besides organising the Hack It Hackaton and the HT Innovation Camp, HT is also a co-organiser of the Business Wall of Fame Contest, and it is supporting the academic community via the STEM:HUB project focused on providing scholarships to students of undersubscribed STEM profiles.
In addition to STEMI, MyBrushes from Vukovar also made its appearance at Eureka Park; this start-up company, presenting its interesting concept of a toothbrush for the youngest, has also been a participant in the Idea Knockout competition.
