Earlier, when looking for the appropriate hotel, the most important characteristics were the location of the hotel, the comfort of rooms, and kindness of personnel. Today, in the era when technology plays a big and important role in our lives, the priorities have changed. According to surveys*, regardless of the purpose of a trip, the most important factor in choice of a hotel for 67 percent of guests is the information regarding the availability of the wireless Internet, whereas 47 percent of guest will not opt for a hotel that does not provide access to free Wi-Fi network, and the quality and speed of the connection is also very important. Three out of four travellers claim that they find a smartphone very important, and more than one third of the survey participants confirms that they use the smartphone much more while on a trip than when they are at home.
Therefore, hotels nowadays pay special attention to technology and possibilities it offers, and 60 percent of them use mobile web pages to present their services, 40 percent of hotels uses a mobile application, 53 percent uses the digital signage technology, whereas 11 percent has the check-in option via the guest's mobile phone. The online booking service is also significantly increasing in Croatia, so the estimated annual income growth rate from online booking of hotel capacities amounts to 28 percent by 2020.
Considering the current indicators of influence of technology in each and every segment of the hotel business, hotels are striving for a better and more efficient service. Therefore, Hrvatski Telekom, as the leading telecommunications company in Croatia, offers integrated solutions for the hospitality industry. Depending on the particular need of its clients, HT combines almost all the available services and technologies – fixed, mobile and cloud – providing, in addition to solution analysis, design, delivery, and implementation, maintenance services and customer support throughout the entire business relationship. One of the advantages of such special business solutions is the possibility of collection per monthly fees. This frees the customers from the initial costs of construction and equipment and provides a total outsourcing method for management and maintenance of solutions.
Many hotels all over Croatia use HT services, starting from the TV system, Wi-Fi, fixed and mobile telephony, internal network, video surveillance, fiscalisation to ICT equipment, e-vehicle charging stations, e-bikes, and smart parking. Hotels are equipped to accommodate different guest profiles, ranging from themed hotels, boutique hotels, and suits to the most sophisticated ones with highly demanding guests. However, what all guests find most important in terms of the technology is that the selected hotel offers everything they might need.
Director of Romana Beach Resort in Makarska, Ivan Gujinović, talks about the hospitality services that HT provides to hotels:
- In the last phase of construction, we were looking for a reliable partner who would provide ICT services, and who would simplify our tasks and meet the needs and expectations of our guests. Considering the high demands of our guests, the implemented technology should be state of the art. Therefore, Hrvatski Telekom proved to be the best choice because of its professional knowledge, technical support it offers, and offered financial construction of the entire project.
Ivana Beli Ostarčević will present the possibilities and ICT services offered by Hrvatski Telekom in the presentation “Only the Best for Your Guests – Prepare Yourself Successfully for the New Season with ICT Services of Hrvatski Telekom” at the hotel industry conference Best Stay to be held in Opatija on 17 and 18 November.
