Hrvatski Telekom and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER) signed a five-year Cooperation Contract today, enabling students and employees to take advantage of the best possible exchange of knowledge and practice from the STEM area. In addition to regular professional development of HT employees and scholarships and mentoring for the best students in higher semesters, the Contract will also provide increased opportunities to participate in international projects, already from the initial years of study.
The Contract was signed by HT's President of the Management Board, Davor Tomašković, by the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, Mislav Grgić and by HT's Member of the Management Board and Chief Human Resources Officer, Marija Felkel.
“This Contract marks the continuation of our cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing at an even higher level. The best specialist mentoring will offer students the opportunity to work with the best experts from our company, but also from Europe. In my opinion, the biggest advantage for these young people lies in the fact that HT is providing them with the opportunity to put their ideas into practice on the international market, without having to leave Croatia, at the same time employing the most advanced technology with all resources at their disposal”, said Davor Tomašković, President of the Management Board of Hrvatski Telekom.
Technology leadership is one of the key competitive advantages of Hrvatski Telekom, enabling us to offer the best place for work, growth and development to the best individuals from the STEM area. For young people it is certainly extremely important that working at HT means working in an international environment. HT is part of the DT Group, and our experts are involved in numerous international projects in which they participate by working in Croatia, but they also have opportunities to work in other countries where DT Group companies are seated.
“We are a company that appreciates and rewards knowledge, and the STEM area is particularly interesting for our operations. Therefore, good cooperation with FER is important to us, as the knowledge and competences acquired by the students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing can be applied by them at our company, in their work on technologies of the future. We support the students in their education, providing them with internship during their studies, and just now we announced a competition for scholarships in the amount of HRK 3000. We also motivate our employees to constantly upgrade their skills by taking advantage of the development programmes offered by our company. One of them is the HT Academy, and those who wish to do so, may pursue further education in doctoral study programmes at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing or in a specialist study programme”, explained Marija Felkel, HT's Member of the Management Board and Chief Human Resources Officer.
HT will provide support to FER’s science and specialist meetings and student activities, and cooperation is also envisaged in teaching, in the part of optional courses covering information and communications services and networks.
“With its Career Centre, our Faculty is already heavily engaged in cooperation with economic entities; in cooperation with Hrvatski Telekom, we launched the HT STEM HUB project, an incubator intended to encourage the development of skills in the STEM area. By this contract we are extending our cooperation, offering new opportunities for our students who can, during their studies, experience a real working environment in a leading Croatian company, which will enable them to fully contribute to the development of the entire economy immediately upon graduation”, said Mislav Grgić, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing.
