- On Tuesday, 22 December, in the framework of the 2nd Dubrovnik Winter Festival, a 3D projection of the Christmas Fairy Tale took place at the Sponza Palace.
- The projection was provided by Hrvatski Telekom, technological partner of the City of Dubrovnik in its candidacy for the European Capital of Culture for the year 2020.
On Tuesday, 22 December, on the façade of the Sponza Palace in Dubrovnik, Christmas and New Year motifs were shown, special surprise being a popular bear, unofficial mascot of this year’s Dubrovnik Winter Festival, now also able to speak. Following sound clips of traditional carols and other popular Christmas songs, the projection, which was enjoyed by both citizens of Dubrovnik and tourists, ended with a Christmas card of the City of Dubrovnik. “The Christmas Fairy Tale” was developed in 3D mapping technique by Pixell Design, a Dubrovnik-based company, supported by Hrvatski Telekom, technological partner of the City of Dubrovnik in its candidacy for the European Capital of Culture for the year 2020.
“In addition to several-year-long successful collaboration with the City of Dubrovnik in the field of telecommunications, we are now expending our collaboration also to other fields where information and telecommunications technologies significantly change the life of the citizens of Dubrovnik for better. Hrvatski Telekom leads the implementation of the Smarty City concept in Croatia, primarily with a view to improving the life of citizens through the application of state-of-the-art technologies. The top technology we use in 3D mapping is our starting point in the introduction of the Smart City concept and the basis of a future multifunctional sensor network of a smart city. This projection symbolically announces our numerous future activities with the City of Dubrovnik, and our hope is it will provide an additional push to the City of Dubrovnik in its candidacy for the prestigious title of the European Capital of Culture for the year 2020,” pointed out Renato Totić, Corporate Account Manager of Hrvatski Telekom.
“The City of Dubrovnik, as a Member of the Executive Board and the Treasurer of the international association LUCI, which gathers cities and experts on lighting from all over the world, is exceptionally interested in the application of state-of-the-art technological solutions, the winning element in this case being the combination of heritage and new technologies,” said on the occasion of the projection Andro Vlahušić, Mayor of Dubrovnik.
“The Christmas Fairy Tale” will be shown again on the façade of the Sponza Palace on Wednesday, 23 December, at 18, 19, and 20 hours.
