Marin Tomasov, Rijeka midfielder, was pronounced the best football player of the year in the poll conducted by tportal among football captains for the 13th time in a row. The title of the best MAXtv Premier League player was rightfully awarded to Tomasov, who had 30 points more than his runner-up Ilija Nestorovski. It’s not without relevance that apart from numerous assists, Tomasov scored five goals this autumn.
tportal.hr conducted its now already traditional poll among all club captains of the MAXtv Premier League, selecting the best football player based on the sum of their votes. Each captain selected five football players he considered to have shown most in the field. The first, that is the best football player was given ten points, while the fifth one was given two points. After counting all points, Rijeka midfielder became the best MAXtv Premier League football player having been awarded 66 points of potential 100, while his runner-up was Ilija Nestorovski, Inter forward and the best shot of the MAXtv Premier League with 13 scores, who had 36 points.
Prior to his expressing gratitude for the votes, we reminded Tomasov that on earlier occasions this title had been awarded to Niko Kranjčar, Eduardo da Silva, Luka Modrić, Mario Mandžukić, Sammir, Leon Benko, Andrej Kramarić…
“It is a great honour to receive the tportal’s award for the best football player of the year. This award is even more valuable knowing that I was selected by my colleagues and competitors in the field. I am pleased that my play has been recognised, but, first of all, I have to thank HNK Rijeka on the given opportunity and my co-players in the club, because it is always the team that pushes an individual in the forefront, as well as our fans who follow and support us at every match. Over the last years, Rijeka has done an excellent job, as proven by the fact that the award for the best football player of the year has been given to a football player from our club for the third year in a row. My hope is that Rijeka will continue with good matches in 2016 and achieve even better results. I thank the good Lord for health and my family, which always stands by me, whether in bad or good. It always supports me and without my family I would have never achieved all this,” said Tomasov when he was presented with the tportal’s award.
