Hrvatski Telekom successfully finalized a comprehensive process of IP transformation – modernization of its fixed telecommunications network – in which all its customers’ fixed lines were migrated to IP (Internet Protocol) technology.
HT is the third telco in the European Union which migrated all of its customers and services to All-IP network architecture. This step has just confirmed the leading position of Hrvatski Telekom on the Croatian market and created prerequisites for the provision of better-quality services to the customers, development of advanced future services as well as a true convergence of fixed and mobile telephone and data services.
“The successful finalization of the IP transformation, which places Hrvatski Telekom at the very top among the European telcos, is another confirmation of our position as a technological leader on the Croatian market. In the past five years, we invested more than HRK 400 million in the IP transformation project. The investments aiming at the development of infrastructure will continue, because such investments allow us to offer innovative products and the fastest top-quality services on the Croatian market. In 2015, HT is to invest more than thirteen hundred million kuna, which is by 25% more compared to 2014,” pointed out Davor Tomašković, President of the Management Board of Hrvatski Telekom.
„This it is not only a local success, it is also a milestone for the entire Deutsche Telekom Group in achieving its strategy: become a leading integrated European telecommunications provider, based on our superior role in technology. We strongly believe that our technology advantages are driving customer experience.“, stated Claudia Nemat, Member of the Deutsche Telekom Board of Management for Europe and Technology.
Customers are More Satisfied with IP Technology-Based Services
Hrvatski Telekom started the process of the overall IP-technology migration in 2010 and it included shutting down of 72 older generation local exchanges all over Croatia. These local exchanges were replaced by only two exchanges providing services to customers and situated in Rijeka and Zagreb. The new Internet Protocol-based platform enables much more efficient provision of the current services, as well as the introduction of many new, up-to-date services intended for both private and business customers.
The IP migration is the basis of a new, multimedia world, networked homes, offices, and cities. During the IP migration process, HT already launched innovative services enabled by this technology. Particularly noteworthy is HT Business Connect, the service based entirely on IP protocol. It has caused great interest among business customers, and is available as part of the new Smart Office packages. HT Business Connect is an example of the convergence of fixed and mobile telephony, and allows customers to use a landline on a mobile device.
The results of a satisfaction survey assessing the quality of HT fixed line services, which was carried out among private and business customers migrated to IP technology, show that the customers are very satisfied with services provided on the new technology, and that the call set-up speed and quality of sound of post-migration services have significantly improved.
In addition, on the occasion of completion of the IP migration, Hrvatski Telekom organizes for all citizens a multimedia exhibition on the development of fixed telephony on the Croatian territory in the last 128 years culminating in the introduction of All-IP network. The exhibition will be opened mid December at HT Museum, Jurišićeva 13 in Zagreb.
