Hrvatski Telekom has granted twelve donations for socially valuable projects selected in three voting rounds to mark the 10th jubilee edition of “Together We Are Stronger” donation competition. The total donation competition fund amounted to HRK 720,000, where in each of the three categories – Technology and Communication, Education and Digitalisation, and Environment and Sustainable Development – the first four projects were granted HRK 90,000, HRK 70,000, HRK 50,000, and HRK 30,000 respectively.
Through this valuable donation programme, HT has confirmed and strengthened its strong commitment to corporate social responsibility and ethical business conduct for the tenth consecutive year.
“Through “Together We Are Stronger” donation competition, Hrvatski Telekom has provided support worth over HRK 8 million for around 240 valuable projects throughout Croatia over the last ten years. We are committed to supporting innovative and quality projects that contribute to overall social development also in the forthcoming future, in the same way we have been doing for years, and it is important to highlight that through this competition we have identified specific areas we intend to continue invest in,” pointed out Davor Tomašković, President of the Management Board of HT.
345 projects have applied for this year's competition. The projects after the first round were selected by the HT Expert Jury comprising of: three representatives of Hrvatski Telekom, a representative of the Office for Co-operation with NGOs of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, a representative of the Robotics Institute at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture of the University of Zagreb, a representative of the Croatian Employers' Association (Global Compact), and a representative of the Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development.
Subsequently, the employees of the HT Group voted for the best 24 projects, and in the final voting round all Internet users were given the opportunity to vote on the official competition website www.zajednosmojaci.hr by 16 November 2015 and thus support the best projects.
The projects selected in diverse categories were as follows:
Technology and Communication
Vukovar Grammar School
Equipping the Vukovar-based grammar school with laptops, projectors, and whiteboards, as well as provision of high speed wireless internet with enhanced signal. Moreover, provision of professional development programmes for employees on the use of ICT technology in class.
Donation amount: HRK 90,000
Stjepan Kefelja Primary School, Kutina
Implementation of the project entitled “Robot Film Enthusiasts” (“Robofilmaši”), developed by a robotics and a film section of the school – procurement of the required robotics equipment, as well as equipment needed for film creation.
Donation amount: HRK 70,000
Popovača Robotic and Information Club
Procurement of equipment and computers required for education of children and youth in the area of programming, automation, and robotics.
Donation amount: HRK 50,000
“Vodomar”, Duga Resa Club for Underwater Activities
Procurement of still cameras, waterproof case, flash lamps, and other required camera equipment, as well as a laptop for photo editing and website maintenance.
Donation amount: HRK 30,000
Education and Digitalisation
“Slava Raškaj”, Zagreb Education Centre
Procurement of IT equipment, creation of infrastructure network and mentor training programme with a view to introducing the application entitled Gabriel's Seeds as a support tool for work with children with communication difficulties.
Donation amount: HRK 90,000
Red Noses Clowndoctors Association, Zagreb
Procurement of equipment and other costs arising from the project “Laughter is the Best Medicine – Skype with a Clown”, aiming to increase the availability of clowns for the children and youth undergoing hospital treatment throughout Croatia.
Donation amount: HRK 70,000
Višnjan Astronomical Society
Procurement of equipment and ensuring other funding for the implementation of a multidisciplinary project entitled “Astronomy as an Introduction to Science” intended for primary and secondary school pupils.
Donation amount: HRK 50,000
Viktor Car Emin Primary School, Donji Andrijevci
Provision of ICT equipment and other funds required for the implementation of project entitled “Don't Ridicule Me”, intended to create a compassionate and caring classroom and school ambiance, as well as enhancement of competences for information and communication of both pupils and their parents.
Donation amount: HRK 30,000
Environment and Sustainable Development
Ružičnjak Kindergarten, Zagreb
The project of a construction of a sensory park intended to encourage pre-school children to explore the world around them, with a special emphasis on incentives originating from nature.
Donation amount: HRK 90.000
Nikola Tesla Polytechnic, Vukovar
Procurement of equipment for the implementation of the project entitled “Green start-up 2”, which implies promotion and education of both pupils and the community in the field of waste sorting and waste management, including biodiesel production.
Donation amount: HRK 70,000
Ivan Filipović Primary School, Osijek
Procurement of equipment and other costs of the implementation of the education and science programme GLOBE (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment).
Donation amount: HRK 50,000
Tourist Board of the City of Sisak
Construction of the “Solar Resting Spot” – a public mobile device charging station and a free hot spot in the very centre of the city of Sisak that will simultaneously raise ecological awareness of the citizens.
Donation amount: HRK 30,000
