After the announcement of the dates and performers of the fifth Telekom Electronic Beats Festival, Zagreb, more details about the new festival concept have been revealed. Along with concerts and DJ sets, this year, EB has been additionally expanded by a daily program comprising special events, lectures or special benefits, which attracted as many as 16 festival partners:

During the EB festival, on November 6 and 7, by offering different musical, artistic, gastronomic and fashion content, the selected partners will create an environment similar to that in urban European capitals, since most of them are located in the broader centre of Zagreb.
Lectures and panel discussions: music journalism, hip-hop history and club fashion in Croatia
The festival Friday starts in Booksa with a lecture “Carrier Goal: Professional Music Journalist” about how music journalists treat their oral sources today. The lecturer Alex Samuelson (Electronic Beats Magazine, The Wire, NPR and Deutsche Welle) will bring his experience closer to students, journalists and others who are appealed by writing about musical topics.
On the following day, Booksa will host one of the Croatian most widely known DJs and producers, Phat Phillie who will talk about the early days and the emergence of hip-hop culture in Croatia. His “Story about the Croatian Hip-hop” will be presented as a juice interlude between the performance of Young Fathers (Friday, &TD) and Mykki Blanco (Saturday, Močvara).
The las EB panel discussion will be the one about the mysterious disappearance of the club culture in Croatia. Famous fashion experts, including Olga Lugović Ionidis – Olja, the former co-owner of the club, Ana Pavić, editor in chief of Buro 24/7 portal and Branka Šćepanović, the owner of the brand ROBA will give the answer to the question „„Clubbing Fashion Under Maginfie” The panel discussion will be held in bon ton galerija and it will be followed by and in store event offering discounts on famous brands, wine tasting and gigs by DJ Jogarde and DJ Martin.
Use the Opportunity and Make Your Own EB Souvenir!
Some of the strongest cultural institutions in the city joined the festival. Hrvatski Telekom grants free admittance to MSU (Museum of Contemporary Art) on Friday and Saturday to all buyers of tickets for Electronic Beats evenings. HDLU (Croatian Association of Artists) grants 50% discount on tickets for the 3rd Biennale of Croatian Painting held in Meštrovićev paviljon, which is an ideal opportunity to see the retrospective of the contemporary artists, such as Stipan Tadić, Zlatan Vehabović, Grgur Akrap etc.
For breaks between festival events, especially prepared EB menus will be offered by the restaurant Croatian Design Superstore (Martićeva Street) and the Asian cuisine restaurant Umami, which also grans the additional 20% discount to all EB visitors who come to the restaurant in Skalinska and Horvaćanska and present their EB entrance tickets/bracelets.
Trešnjevka located Teneo Coffee (considered the best coffee shop in town) will organise, exclusively for EB visitors, free of charge “Brewolution” workshops on how to prepare the best coffee at home, employing as many as eight different techniques. At the same time, these will be the locations where festival guests will have the opportunity to purchase their copies of Electronic Beats magazine, singles and other popular promotional items.
The Croatian Design Superstore will also offer a golden opportunity to test one's own designer capacities in the creation of unique EB souvenirs at the Designer Workshop – participants will be able to take the results of their work under CDS mentorship home with them.
The best Saturday warm-up (the one for the performance of DJ Koze at &TD) will await the guests at the Pikto Gallery at Branimir Centre, where, along with current exhibitions, (Tarik Walid El Kawam: “From afar” and Denis Dunaj: “Faces“) the DJs Sladoled and Tvrtko and guests will prepare a special edition of the dance Friend’s Room.
SC – the best weekend location for music enthusiasts
On Saturday, music enthusiasts, professionals, producers and DJs will find their haven at the SC where, already in the morning, the biggest Močvara Record and Comic Fair will start. In its special EB edition, the Fair will gather owners of all relevant Croatian second hand shops selling records and comics.
Eight candidates will be participating in the all-day Zagreb-Verb Workshop, a workshop focussed on learning how to create a specific reverb effect – the convolution reverb. Under the mentorship of Ksenija Ladić, attendees will learn how to record a convolution reverb of specific venues such as the French Pavillion, and how to apply such know-how in their production work.
The programme will be closed by the first Croatian Native Instruments Sessions, a gathering of Native Instruments users, experts and the broader music community, with tradition in cities such as Berlin, Los Angeles and Tokyo. For partners of the premiere session in Croatia, Native Instruments have chosen this very EB, the Confusion Crew and the presenter KOOLADE, one of the best national music producers.
“The new concept of Telekom Electronic Beats will turn the city of Zagreb into a vibrant destination as wished for by our audience. The programme has been designed in such a way that every guest, in line with their preferences, will be able to attend at least a third, if not half of the events prepared in cooperation with partners prior to continuing with the evening’s EB clubbing“, say the organisers and explain that a part of the lectures/programmes will require prior appointment.
This way, for its fifth birthday, the EB Festival is turning into a concrete and unique event that, we believe, will again charm electronic and hip-hop music lovers. This will certainly happen thanks to the announced performers: Young Fathers, Mykki Blanco, DJ Koze, KINK, Kolsch, Romare, Sinkane, Talisco, Ten Fe, Ilija Rudman, Kozmodrum, Pytzek and Tomislav. Electronic Beats will take place on 6 and 7 at three concert and club locations (&TD, Močvara, Sirup) and feature a rich daily supporting programme.
