Hrvatski Telekom has been accompanying the MAXtv Filmomanija Revue from its first edition, and this year, the revue of good films at the Cineplexx Kaptol Centre will last longer than ever before – from 1 to 14 October.
Every year, MAXtv Filmomanija presents the latest films by cult and renowned filmmakers which, after regular theatrical exploitation, are immediately made available in the MAXtv video library, and some of them can be watched exclusively after the screening at the Revue. This year, the films WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS and METAMORPHOSES will be offered exclusively in the MAXtv video library right after the last screening at the Revue.
Second ticket for free
The long-standing good cooperation between Continental film, Cineplexx, and HT brings more novelties. Throughout the entire duration of the Revue, users of HT services and HT’s employees buying a ticket will get the second ticket for free.
To be eligible for the free ticket, users of HT services must present the last paid bill and their identity card, while HT employees must show their HT ID card.
Metamorphoses
Large number of films to be screened
The ninth MAXtv Filmomanija – the revue of good films, under the general sponsorship of Hrvatski Telekom from its very first edition, will not only be one of the best in terms of film selection, but also the longest revue ever held at the Cineplexx Kaptol Centre. That is to say that instead of the former ten days, this year’s revue will last for two full weeks, over the period from 1 to 14 October, which will allow a larger number of screenings for all films shown at the revue. Certainly, among the most attractive films presented to the audience are the already announced Love 3D, the most controversial film shot in this century by the renowned Argentinian director Gaspar Noe, which had its premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival where it received an unprecedented amount of public interest, primarily because of its more than explicit sex scenes, The Lobster, a film by acknowledged Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos which won a whopping three awards at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, and Mr. Holmes, a film by British screenwriter and director Bill Condon (winner of the prestigious Oscar award), starring Ian McKellen as old detective Sherlock Holmes, playing the role of his life.
What We Do in the Shadows
MAXtv Filmomanija Highlights
This year’s MAXtv Filmomanija also brings the latest films of cult and renowned filmmakers, the highlights among them certainly being Marielle Heller (Diary of a Teenage Girl – one of the most lauded films of this year, awarded at film festivals in Berlin, Sundance, Edinburgh, and Palm Springs), Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement (What We Do in the Shadows – winner of various awards at many film festivals where it was shown to date, such as Toronto, Warsaw, New Zealand, Melbourne, and others), Maya Forbes (Infinitely Polar Bear – screened as part of the Official Selections at the Sundance and Toronto Film Festivals), James Ponsoldt (The End of the Tour – winner of the Audience Award at the Sarasota Film Festival and shown at the film festivals in Sundance, Melbourne, London, and New Zealand), and Kevin Smith (Tusk – award winner at the Toronto Film Festival).
Visitors of the MAXtv Filmomanija 9 will be the first ones in the Region having the opportunity to see the latest film by Michel Gondry – Microbe et Gasoil. This is the new film by the screenwriter and director who won the prestigious Oscar award for the masterpiece “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”. Also to be shown are: Dope – the new film directed by Rick Famuyiwa, winner of the Excellence in Editing Award at the Sundance Film Festival, screened as part of the Official Selection of the Cannes Film Festival; Grandma – the new film by Paul Weitz, one of this year’s most critically acclaimed films, and Digging for Fire directed by Joe Swanberg, shown in the Official Selections of the Sundance, Sarasota, and Maryland Film Festivals.
French production films are particularly well represented at this year’s MAXtv Filmomanija 9. Therefore, in addition to Love 3D directed by Gaspar Noe, the audience will also have the opportunity to see La Rancon de la Glorie by Xavier Beauvois, shown in the Official Selection of the Venice Film Festival, based on true events about two men who decided to steal Charlie Chaplin’s body to demand a ransom from his family, and the film Metamorphoses directed by Christophe Honore, also shown in the Official Selection of the Venice Film Festival and nominated for the Venice Days Award, about a young girl named Europa who sets out on a journey of self-discovery.
The films will be screened every day from 1 to 14 October, starting at 19:00 and 21:00 h; on weekends, screenings will start on 17:00 h.
