- BRANKA BAJT – BalCannes hall, Saturday, 26 September / 12.30 – 13.30 / Forget Everything You Have Known So Far
In the past couple of years, our industry has become obsessed with learning. We like to talk about acceleration time, complexity, and a need for learning new tricks. However, the thing that holds us back from “unlearning” some of the generally accepted paradigms and ways of thinking and acting is our incapability. This especially refers to the way how we adapt and accept media innovations. When a new media appears, it uses the content of another media in order to develop new forms of expression. Today, at the time of fast digital innovations in terms of formats and platforms, the “unlearning” of all generally recognised methods of media usage will give us the advantage in a digital environment…

- SINIŠA ĐURANOVIĆ – Vikendica hall – Saturday, 26 September / 15.30 – 16.30 / Who ate Who 2.0
In 2010, witnessing how large media companies, telecoms, and technological companies entered in each other's business areas, we held a first discussion under the title “Who Will Eat Who?” Telecoms were then entering the segment of content distribution and hurriedly becoming media; media and service providers wanted access to broadband users, TV companies occupied Internet and aimed at mobile services, and many internet companies reached out for TV, IPTV was opening the door to TV advertising to telecoms. Everything became an integral part of the monetisation of a single eco-system of four large groups of players: media, telecommunications companies, manufacturers of entertainment electronics, and internet players. The lines between their partial-eco systems have grown thinner, and the disruptive business models which were built on the basis of that convergence tore down both the boundaries and the companies. What is the situation today, several years later? Is there a single eco-system? What does the situation look like globally/regionally? Does the user (experience) dictate the tempo together with the development of the technology? Is the content still the king? Who will eventually eat who?
- HRVOJE IŠEK – Vikendica hall – Saturday, 26 September / 16.45 – 17.45 / Smart City:
How smart can cities become? Powered by Schneider Electric,
Overfilled garbage containers, cost of utilities too high, or a city bus which never comes when you need it – does that sound familiar? The cities in which we live grew according to the “more, faster, better” principle. We find “faster and better” important even today, but the “more” part is a growing burden to us. Can we manage our cities smarter? How much does it cost? Can only rich cities become smart cities? Are there smart cities in Croatia and the region? What is the role of the Internet in all this? You can find the answers to these and many other questions by joining this smart panel for smart citizens.
Intro: Darko Lopotar (Schneider Electric, Croatia), other participants: Josip Aleksić (Schneider Electric SR), Ivica Perica (Delloite HR), Dražen Tomić (ICT business.info HR), moderator: Dragan Petric (Bug, HR)
- BOJAN MUŠĆET – Vikend Radni prostor (weekend work space), Saturday, 26 September / 18.00 – 19.00 / Start-ups powered by HT
From a local startup to a global finish
Using various interesting contests and pitches, as well a strategic support, Hrvatski Telekom tries to make a path for new companies which can gain themselves global success. The proof of this are the companies DivIT, uniGluko, and PhotoMath, which cooperate with HT and which definitely can achieve global success. The representatives of these companies will reveal how they started, what obstacles they faced, and how they, actually, became noticed on global markets.
Participants: representatives of the following start-ups: DivIT, uniGluko, PhotoMath
HT traditionally provides all the press-centre infrastructure and equipment in its exhibition room, covers the entire location with a free WiFi service, and organises superior entertainment for the visitors.
This year, the visitors won't miss the adrenaline rush, because they will have the opportunity to take rides on a virtual roller coaster:
The fastest virtual reality ride!
On a special stand, the Festival participants will also have the opportunity to try Oculus, a metal device they put on their heads and watch the fastest virtual ride. The incredible virtual rollercoaster ride amuses not only the players watching the ride, but the audience watching their bewildered movements as well. It is also possible to organise a competition between players if there is interest for this.
The fastest virtual reality ride on a mobile handset!
While the visitors wait for Oculus virtual reality at the stand, the hostesses will animate them by means of an addition to an application – glasses, which enable the visitors to feel a shorter form of VR compared to the Oculus glasses.
The visitors will get special cardboard glasses, that is, a cardboard box with lenses in which a smartphone with special VR content (e.g. concert of a big rock-star) is put. The user can move his/her head in all directions getting the impression of being on a stage next to the singer during the concert.
Tportal fotkaona!
Tportal prepared fotkaona (a special room for taking pictures), where the visitors will be able to enjoy themselves, use props, take photos, share them with friends on social networks, and take home a strip postcard as a record of this year's Weekend Media Festival.
