As a signatory to the Charter Recognising Competences Acquired by Volunteering, Hrvatski Telekom re-confirmed its commitment to socially responsible business operations in recognising the potential of volunteering in the development of a better society, but also in the direct improvement of its impact on human resources development.
On behalf of Hrvatski Telekom, Ms. Ana Zovko, Director of the Career Development Department, signed the Charter Recognising Competences Acquired by Volunteering.
On 4 September 2015, the Croatian Youth Network, the Volunteers’ Centre Zagreb, and the University in Rijeka, in partnership with the Croatian Employers’ Association, organised a conference at which the Charter was signed by the representatives of 23 companies, organisations, and associations. This example of social responsibility can be followed online by other entities as well, as the signing of the Charter continues on the website http://povelja.hr.
The Charter is an innovative instrument encouraging employers and the educational sector to recognise and valuate competences acquired by volunteering in the process of achieving the full human potential. It is an expression of willingness to adopt standards and good practices in the processes related to employment, vocational training, and job promotions, which are based on the recognition of the importance of volunteering and its benefits for individuals, organisations, communities, and the society as a whole.
Through their engagement, volunteers acquire valuable knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are very difficult to develop through formal education and which bring added value to companies, institutions, and organisations. Such talents are frequently not visible in the conventional curriculum vitae format, but smart and socially responsible employers know how to recognise them and how to attract and keep employees who have them.
