- The first commercial service based the centralized Pan-European IP network
- Totally secure, automated, and self-service based solution for small and medium businesses
- Solution built on the HT and Cisco’s advanced virtualization technology
Hrvatski Telekom and Deutsche Telekom launch a new service for small and medium businesses – Cloud VPN (Virtual Private Network) – in Croatia, Hungary and Slovakia.
Cloud VPN is the first DT commercial service created for the centralized Pan-European IP network, where network functions are virtualized in data centers. The service provides a unique combination of functionality, simplicity, and automation in the area of secure communications, especially for small and medium businesses.
"The digitization of the small and medium business sector is key to economic growth across Europe. Virtualization and cloud open up new ways to bring professional IT services within easy reach of small and medium businesses. With the ever-increasing level of security threats, digitization starts with secure access, and for that reason, we decided to start the roll-out of our new generation of cloud-managed IT services with Cloud VPN", said Jens Hartmann, Member of the Management Board and Chief Operating Officer Business at Hrvatski Telekom.
Cloud VPN combines secure communication and additional protective functions in the cloud with a high degree of automation in service provisioning and self-service management. With this solution, customers can easily and securely access all important company data from anywhere – whether in branch offices or at remote locations.
The Cloud VPN service uses a self-service online portal to give customers a simple way to select, subscribe to, and activate services. The service portfolio includes various password-protected VPNs: branch, site-to-site, and remote access, as well as a firewall and web security. The service is offered as a cloud-managed IT solution on a monthly subscription basis.
Customers have access to a control panel where they can, with a simple mouse click, track the status and performance of services, change service properties, such as number of customers, throughput, or traffic priorities per location and application, and choose between pre-defined web security levels. Service provisioning is automatic and done in real-time from the Hrvatski Telekom Data Center.
New Cloud VPN is the first commercial service provided by PANNET – DT’s Pan-European IP network with virtualized network functions harmonized in different data centers.
With the launch of this service, Deutsche Telekom has become the first multinational telecommunications provider which uses the synergies from collaboration between national operators.
The Cloud VPN solution has been developed on Cisco’s virtual security devices, in combination with DT’s OpenStack solutions.
Michael Ganser, Cisco's Senior Vice President for Central Europe, said: "As shown by the Cisco Annual Security Report, cyber security attacks are now much more sophisticated, which makes it challenging for SMBs to safeguard their IT infrastructure. The Cloud VPN service efficiently deals with such security requirements, in a cost-effective way."
