The eighth iteration of the contest for presentation of four awards to be granted to works from the field of modern visual arts, under the title Croatian Modern Art Award T-HT@msu.hr, has been completed.
166 works were submitted to the contest, featuring a wide range of topics and a variety of media expressions. The majority of works were multimedia installations and video clips, but the contest also saw many works in photography and painting media and a smaller number of sculptures, objects, ambiences and performances.
Taking into account the fairly large number of high-quality works, we can come to the conclusion that the Expert Committee will have to cope with a big task, and since this exhibition has no predefined conceptual formulation, it is fully justified to say that this event represents a relevant cross-section of the status of Croatian contemporary art.
All works will be evaluated by an Expert Committee comprised of: mr.sc. Snježana Pintarić, M.Sc., President of the Expert Committee, Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art and Museum Counselor; Leonida Kovač, PhD, Associate Professor at University of Zagreb - Academy of Fine Arts, Zagreb; Prof. Peter Kogler, Multimedia Artist, Academy of Fine Arts, Munich; Igor Španjol, Curator, Modern Gallery, Ljubljana; Leila Topić, Curator, Museum of Contemporary Art. The Expert Committee will select the works that will be presented, in the course of March and April 2015, at the exhibition T-HT@msu.hr – Croatian Contemporary Art Award, in the premises for occasional exhibitions of the Museum of Contemporary Art.
All candidates who have applied will be notified, at the same time, about the decision of the Expert Committee by the end of January 2015.
As in previous years, the Expert Committee has invited three well-known artists to directly participate with their works in the exhibition and contest. The invited artists are: Lovro Artuković, Martina Kramer and Goran Škofić.
