HT is the first in Croatia to have successfully tested frequency aggregation technology in the active LTE telecommunications network and having achieved a data transmission rate 136 megabits per second. This way, HT reached the highest bitrate in Croatian mobile networks.
Testing was conducted in the closer area of Varaždin; once again, HT proved to be the leader in innovation and development among the Croatian telecommunications operators.
"Carrier aggregation in the LTE standard is one of the most advanced functionalities in mobile technology. This solution provides 1800 MHz frequency aggregation and digital dividend on 800 MHz, resulting in double the speed of data transmission in comparison to former use of the LTE network. we are extremely satisfied with the testing in Varaždin and with the achieved user peak rates of 136 Mbps, as we are currently combining two 10 MHz bands, and we plan to implement further improvements", said Goran Toplek, Director of the Access Network Development Department at Hrvatski Telekom.
"Carrier aggregation" is one of the key technological solutions of the LTE-Advanced development phase of the fourth generation mobile networks (4G), implementation of which is planned by all dominant operators. Development of LTE user handsets for the wide application of this technology is in an advanced phase; however, some more time is needed for a more massive commercial availability.
In April, Hrvatski Telekom completed the overall upgrading of the radio access network, continuing now with the implementation of technologies which will provide full broadband coverage and gradual increase of data transmission bitrates for customers.
